Food and drinks in Amsterdam's historic city centre

From Coiffeur to Brasserie

Brasserie Meuwese has existed as a restaurant for nearly half a century, but the characteristic building itself is much older. In the past, one of Amsterdam’s best hairdressers cut the hair of Amsterdam’s most stylish people here. At the time, it was known as Coiffeur. Customers were served an Italian espresso by the family and in those days, good coffee wasn’t that well known in the Netherlands. This fact alone already made the place unique.
